Sod is a layer of established grass with roots and some soil attached. It is harvested in long strips that are rolled up with the soil side out. For the best chance of success, sod should be installed soon after harvesting. Once laid and with some finetuning, it offers the look of a finished lawn. However, it takes a few weeks for the roots to bond with the native soil.
